BRADENTON, FL--For long suffering fans of the Pittsburgh Pirates, there is finally reason for optimism in 2010: the Pittsburgh Penguins, currently in second place in the Atlantic Division, have a decent chance of going all the way this year. “It’s nice to finally have some reason to be optimistic,” said Pirates fan Carl DeWitt, 50. “Usually we’re pretty miserable this time of year. But you know what? The Penguins look pretty good. They're a legitimate contender. Everybody down here at spring training is buzzing about them. There’s a real feeling of hope in the air.” As for the Pirates, DeWitt is optimistic they can stay out of the cellar if everybody stays healthy and has a career year.
