MIAMI--The Miami Dolphins lost to the Buffalo Bills on Sunday 13-10, running their record to 0-9 and inching them closer to the dreaded winless season. Following the listless performance, many players admitted that they were looking ahead to next Sunday’s showdown against the Philadelphia Eagles.

“Sometimes you get caught looking ahead and I think that’s what happened to us today,” said quarterback Cleo Lemon, who threw for 131 yards passing on the day. “We have that big showdown against the Eagles next week and we simply lost focus on the task at hand. It’s too bad, because now that game has lost some of its luster. We’re going into it 0-9 instead of 1-8. So much for all the hype.”

Despite not having their heads in the game, the Fins came close to winning it when they scored a touchdown in the third quarter. Unfortunately, things unraveled in the fourth when the Bills roared back with11 points.

“We were still in this thing at the end of the game, despite everything,” said Lemon. “When we scored that touchdown in the third quarter, it almost seemed like we were going to escape with it, but it just wasn’t meant to be. That was a real punch in the stomach, as was the punch in the stomach I got from Jason Taylor after the game.”

The Bills, winners of four in a row, came into Miami a focused, hungry group. It didn’t take long to realize they were better prepared for the game than the Dolphins.

“We seemed listless. We seemed out of it,” said coach Cam Cameron. “It's almost like we expected to just show up and be handed a victory. Look, Buffalo is a quality team. They are not going to roll over and die. I know I told my team they would roll over and die, but hey, you've got to consider the source on that one.”

As for next week’s game in Philadelphia, Cameron reminded everyone that it’s still only a regular season game.

“Yea, it’s going to be a key match-up, but no matter how key, it’s still the regular season,” he said. “I know ESPN and the local media are going to be talking it up like it’s the Super Bowl, but it’s not going to make or break our season. It probably won’t even help our playoff positioning, as its my understanding that winless teams don’t normally make the playoffs – not in the AFC anyway.”

The Eagles, who had a wild victory against the Redskins on Sunday, are hoping to get back to .500 next week against the Dolphins. Like the Fins, they admitted that they were looking past this week’s opponent.

“Watching the game you could probably tell that our focus wasn’t entirely on the Redskins,” said quarterback Donovan McNabb. “We were actually looking ahead to this week, when we could start gearing up for our big showdown with the Patriots in Week 12. That’s going to be a real measuring stick for us. Thankfully we have a bye week next Sunday. What’s that? We’re playing the Dolphins? Oh, that’s even better than a bye week. We get to take the week off and get a victory.”
