CLEVELAND--Jim Granger, a congressman from Tennessee and favorite of the Tea Party, is suddenly the leading candidate to take over the Cleveland Cavaliers coaching job, the Cleveland Plain Dealer reported today. Granger’s surge to the forefront is seen as further proof of the Tea Party’s growing sway. “The fact that [Cavs owner] Dan Gilbert is even considering congressmen Granger for this position is another big victory for the Tea Party,” said political analyst Eric Sondermann. “This proves once again how angry people are with their current lawmakers and how eager they are for so-called ‘outsiders’ to come in and make things right. Sure, Mr. Granger knows nothing about basketball, but he speaks for a lot of people who are fed up with the status quo. Mr. Gilbert is obviously aware of this and is acting accordingly.” Granger, if he wins the job, has vowed to eliminate passing and encourage players to carry firearms to games. |
