SAN ANTONIO--Tina Charles, All-American center for the Connecticut Huskies, is currently in her senior season at UConn. In a couple months, Charles will enter the WNBA draft, a prospect she admits she is dreading. “Oh, God I wish I could stay in school forever,” said Charles, following her team’s 40-point victory in the NCAA tournament. “Unfortunately I’m a senior now and I’ve exhausted all my eligibility. So now I get to look forward to entering the WNBA draft and beginning my career as an extremely low-paid, totally anonymous nobody on the Washington Sparks or Los Angeles Mystics or whatever. I'm projected to go as the number one pick, which guarantees me a minimum salary of $23,000 a year, but that's only if the league survives that long.”
