HONOLULU--Fresh from their stirring come-from-behind victory against the AFC in the Pro Bowl, the NFC was honored with a victory parade that rolled through the streets of Honolulu. According to police, an estimated 1.5 million people turned out for the celebration, which featured live musical performances and speeches from some of the game’s stars.

“Thank you! We love guys!” shouted Vikings running back Adrian Peterson. “A lot of people said we couldn’t win this game, but we believed, and you believed and now everybody in America believes! And you know what? We’re not just satisfied with this one. We’re gonna bring it home next year, too! And the year after that! Provided I’m still in the NFC and haven’t been traded or anything!”

Peterson, who carried the NFC on his back in the second half of the game, said winning the Pro Bowl meant more to him than any individual accolades.

“This is what you work for all year,” he said. “The fact that I’m able to stand here and celebrate with these guys is worth a helluva lot more than anything I could have won by myself – except for the Pro Bowl MVP. I did get a car for that.”

Starting quarterback Tony Romo struggled to hold back tears as he thanked the fans and professed his love for his teammates.

“I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: NFC fans are the best fans in the country,” Romo said. “Without you, we never would have made it this far. And to my teammates, I just wanna say I love you guys and I’m glad I was able to share this with you. I also want to make a promise to the fans: We will be back here next year! The NFC will return to the Pro Bowl!”

What made the victory all the more satisfying was the fact that they were down 17 points at halftime. It took a furious rally, capped by a Jeff Garcia touchdown pass to Terrell Owens, to put the NFC ahead for good.

“That play will be talked about for as long as there’s a Pro Bowl,” said Garcia, who had 117 yards passing on the day. “I’m just happy that I was able to be a part of it. All my life I have wanted to be part of a victory parade, and here I am. I even brought my kid with me. Hey, wait a minute. I don’t have a kid. Who the hell is this anyway?”

Meanwhile, the AFC All-Pros are faced with a long off-season of wondering what might have been had they been able to hold onto their first half lead. More than one player on the squad feels the best team didn’t win on Sunday.

“Look, they won the game and my hat’s off to them,” said receiver Reggie Wayne. “But we had a big lead, we relaxed, and we ended up beating ourselves. If we played them ten times, I bet we win nine of them. One thing I do know for sure is that the AFC will be back here next year. That’s a guarantee. Shoot, I hope I didn’t jinx us.”
