GAINESVILLE, FL--With Florida QB Tim Tebow close to deciding on his NFL future, draft experts are debating exactly where the talented youngster will be selected. Most feel Tebow will go in the middle to late rounds, with some saying he possesses the athleticism and upside to be the fourth tight end selected in the draft. “Tebow has speed, strength, vision, and great hands,” said Walter Scheffer of DraftPicks.com. “He's a very dynamic athlete. In fact, I rank him about the fourth best tight end in the draft. I know he's never played the position before, but every time I watch him dropping back in the pocket, I think ‘Now there’s a guy who was born to be a tight end.’” Perhaps the most prominent expert to peg Tebow as a tight end was ESPN draft guru, Mel Kiper. “I definitely see Tebow as a tight end,” Kiper said on ESPN radio. “He’s got all the characteristics: he’s white, he's tall, he's athletic, and he can run. Plus he has a great football IQ. All he has to do is work on his receiving skills. I suggest he practice by throwing passes to himself, because if you can catch those ducks, you can catch pretty much anything.” There are some who believe Tebow has the skills to be an NFL quarterback, and most of them play for or coach the Florida Gators, such as Urban Meyer, who predicted Tebow would prove his doubters wrong. “People who don’t think Tim can't play QB in the NFL are seriously underestimating him,” said Meyer. “Tim is one of those rare athletes who can excel at anything he does. He's the real thing. When he gets to the NFL, mark my word, he's going to surprise a lot of people. Notice I haven’t said anything specific about his ability to play quarterback. I’m being very vague, yet on the surface I’m endorsing him. That’s what makes me such a beloved coach.” Tebow won the Heisman Trophy and the Davey O’Brien Award in 2007 and is regarded as one of the top quarterbacks in college football. For that reason, he vehemently disagrees with anyone who questions his future as a quarterback. “I just think it’s silly for people to doubt me, because I am obviously a great quarterback,” said Tebow. “Have you watched me during a game? I am unstoppable. Are things so different in the NFL? No. It’s just faster and more complex. By my second year in the league I will be embarrassing defenders the way I do in college. I just can't wait to take on Ray Lewis, one on one, at the goal line. In the house! Yay! Weeeeee! Sorry I got a little excited there for a minute. Hope I didn't scare anyone.” Copyright 2009, The Brushback - Do not reprint without permission. This article is satire and is not intended as actual news.
