PEORIA, AZ--San Diego Padres third base coach Glenn Hoffman, who showed up to spring training 20 pounds lighter, said today he was in the “best shape of his life” going into the 2010 season. “I feel great. I’m lighter, I’m quicker, and I’m in the best shape of my life,” Hoffman told reporters today. “I got into a new workout regimen in the offseason with a really great trainer and I was able to regain a lot of my mobility and quickness. I feel like I’m 49 again.” Hoffman then spent the day standing with his arms folded at third base whistling and spitting out sunflower seeds.
