6-0 Broncos Have Sights Set On Outstanding Team ESPY |
October 22 , 2009 |
DENVER--The Denver Broncos may be off to a 6-0 start but they know they haven’t accomplished anything yet. According to players and coaches, the ultimate goal remains the holy grail of team sports excellence, the 2010 Outstanding Team ESPY. Safety Brian Dawkins says anything short of the Outstanding Team ESPY should be considered a failure. “Where we’re at right now, if we don’t win the whole thing – the Outstanding Team ESPY – we basically have to consider this season a failure,” said Dawkins. “That’s the goal we set out for ourselves at the beginning of the season and that’s the goal we’re focusing on. Obviously we haven’t accomplished anything yet. Outstanding Team ESPYs are not won in October. But if we keep playing the way we’re playing and take it one game at a time, who knows? We could end up on stage with Justin Timberlake and the broad from One Tree Hill.” Coach Josh McDaniels is taking a different approach, refusing to utter the words “Outstanding Team ESPY” unless his team wins the Super Bowl.
