PITTSBURGH--A month into the regular season, a new franchise player has emerged for the Pittsburgh Pirates. His name is Evan Meek, and he’s a pretty decent middle reliever who can get people out on a semi-regular basis. “Evan Meek is really the cornerstone of our franchise right now,” said GM Neal Huntington. “He’s got a lifetime 3.58 ERA and a 0.69 ERA this season. He’s clearly the best pitcher on our team and our most productive player. He looks like a major leaguer when he’s out there. It’s fun to watch! That’s why I’d like to announce that we have signed Evan Meeks to an 8-year, $60 million deal. Our franchise cornerstone is locked up for years to come. Yea!” With Meek locked up, Huntington will now begin the task of building a team around his decent middle reliever.
