NASHVILLE--A vicious brawl that broke out at the end of Saturday night’s Strikeforce: Nashville mixed martial arts event failed to tarnish the image of mixed martial arts fighting, officials said Monday. “This incident, while regrettable and ugly, did nothing to tarnish the image of MMA fighting as a whole,” said Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker. “Before this, people generally thought of mixed martial arts as a bloody marriage between boxing and professional wrestling, and after it people still think of mixed martial arts as a bloody marriage between boxing and professional wrestling. That’s the good news. The bad news is that it’s a bloody marriage between boxing and professional wrestling.” |
